Review on Wago 222 412 Lever Nuts Conductor Connectors: Secure and Hassle-Free Wire Connections by Josue Porter

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Simple operation and strong clamping force; safe to touch; cheap

I love these things. They provide a good, firm grip on the wires, are fairly easy to use, the length of the strip is molded to a side with some specs and gives a visual indication of how deep the contacts are inside the case. The levers require a lot of force to open and close and they snap which can cause you to lose your footing, get pinched/hit by the lever or scare you half to death. This makes them a little more difficult to use (literally), but they require no tools and keep the ladder secure. I can ignore these shortcomings for a 5 star rating, also I'm missing a lot in one of my thumbs and I think I can give them the benefit of the doubt that my disability contributes to my minor ailments. is consistent and as far as I can tell the quality control is excellent. I've only used the 50 I have now and would need to use more, like a few hundred, to have reliably accurate observations to share. WAGO typically uses polyamide (PA) 6.6 and 4.6 with polycarbonate for insulation. I recently found a few samples of their DIN rail upstairs in my dad's shop where they have withstood low humidity and temperatures in excess of 100F in the summer (higher because the attic is uncooled and has no insulation directly under the metal roof). and be forgotten and dusty for several years. After a few years in these harsh conditions, they become a bit brittle, which is what I expected from plastic. but they seem to take everything better than many other plastics. I'd be cautious and expect breakage if I had to open one of these after being exposed to higher temperatures for 2-3 years, especially with the levers and hard hits, but if you handle them in a way that even removes them similar to "tenderness," it would probably be fine. Unless you need to open the lever due to the required strength and thinness of the material. Lever DIN rail terminals broke more frequently in my old-fashioned designs. The low cost of these lever nuts is such that failure after many years of service will not upset me except for a moment of regret. They (two wire type) are smaller than they appear in the pictures. WAGO specifications: ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT: Rated voltage (II / 2) [V] 400 V Rated impulse voltage (II / 2) [kV] 4 kV Rated current [A] to [°C] 85 °C / 104 °FSSIZE: Width 12.4 mm / 0.488" Height 14.5mm / 0.571" Depth 20.5mm / 0.807" for solid and stranded) Stripping Length 9...10mm / 0.35...0.39" (Note: I copied and the conversion for the specs most people probably want were listed directly from the WAGO site; interestingly, some of the specs on this Revain list are incorrect). (I bought them from the HomeElectrical seller)
