How many times have you carefully measured the pieces before cutting, used the 1/4 inch presser foot on your machine and slowly sewed the pieces together into a precise block. . Then you measured the block and found it to be smaller than the instructions say? This used to be the most annoying part of quilting for me. . so much so that I have given my blocks to various troubleshooting instructors. That's when I discovered Aurifil 50 wt thread. I never realized how big a difference one thread can make. But think about it. . .if the thread used is about the same thickness as the threads woven in, the seams go deeper into the fabric and take up less space. . . Make perfect seams every time. Now stretch the warp thread with your fingertips and watch out for the lumps. . .Absolutely no lumps in the Aurifil thread. By far the best sewing thread. However, because it's so thin, it's certainly strong enough to hold the seams together when sewing clothes, but it's harder to pull the gathers. . So don't throw away polyester/cotton threads as they are still useful for sewing clothes. . .but nothing but Aurifil matches my quilts! #2310 is one of my favorite sewing threads as it goes with most light to medium colors of fabric.
