Review on ๐Ÿ”ช Enhance Your Tools with the Sharp Pebble Sharpening Sharpener Waterstone by Scott Tompkins

Revainrating 4 out of 5

almost what i expected for the money but they work much better than the cheaper stones

on arrival the tips of some corners were slightly broken. It wasn't a big problem since it's a very small chip, but it's one thing. The surface of the 6000 grit stone was slightly pitted, not enough to affect its use, but then again the 1000 grit stone is clearly slightly miscut, slightly serrated on one side and slightly domed on the other. It still did a good job as I didn't really notice until I started using it, but it would annoy me trying to get high accuracy and having to smooth it out of the box so much , and it's also really hard to see until there's no fertilizer. I'm sure it will be leveled quickly with a leveling stone. My biggest concern is that they aren't 1 inch thick. They are 3/4" thick. It's big enough that I suspected it would be based on the photos, but still not quite as advertised. The 400 grit stone took a little to really get to grips with the cutting to begin with. right. it was very slippery on top and didn't really dig in. luckily my first pair of knives didn't need the 400 stone anyway, the 1000 had this problem too but to a lesser extent. the 6000 did well right away. if they all work properly, they cut fast enough for their price: I would definitely expect more from a quality stone, but I'm happy with this performance for the money and they do a great job.Definitely better than the cheap Chinese stones I've used had previously (maybe there is some diminishing yield in there but I'm satisfied) The stones do appear to live up to the advertised rating as opposed to some of the cheaper ones n. , doesn't say anywhere, but a quick dip didn't hurt them (not dry yet). The included Nagura is actually more of a cleaning stone than a leveling stone: it has to be bigger to be really flat, but it saves me from having to buy one separately and it's clear what the photos show. The base fits snugly and the stones in it don't move, although they don't hold up well on a wet plastic countertop. I assume using less water will help prevent this problem and it holds up very well on a dry bench. Overall I'm not happy but if next time I'd spend a little more and take some better stones. That's a good figure if they're going to do the job for the foreseeable future.
