Are the days of Japanese collets over? Made in Japan is what I expected from Lyndex-Nikken. But right on the box it says "India". I'm no R8 collet expert but I think this example is as good as you could expect no matter where it was made without sorting through the heap to find the best junk. I've had Bridgeport and Hardinge collets with a lot of run out (Bridgeport in particular). In my PM-935 spindle clamping the ground pin, I get 0.0001" TIR right at the collet nose and 0.0006" TIR at 2" out. That's very good IMO. I have a 1/2 "R8 collet from Lyndex (Japan) that goes 0.0001" on the nose and 0.0003" on the 2" so I'd say my spindle is decent.
