Great vise for the price. I'm using this on a 6040 CNC router. It's about the same height you'd probably want on a CNC router of this size as the Z axis is quite limited. My 2" vise gives me more room. I don't know if I need a screwless vise, but they work pretty well. They're more compact than a set screw vise. Same item over and over since moving the sponges a longer distance can be a bit painful at times. However, I can move the jaws from small to large without removing the vise from my machine. You do not need access to the underside of the vise. To adjust the vise, loosen the screw the correct amount and squeeze the screw and the moving jaw a little. If you don't loosen the screw enough, you won't be able to move the jaw very far - it will get stuck on the cam lugs.If you loosen the screw too far, the vise will fall apart and will require reassembly. Reassembly will require access to the underside of the vise which means you will need to use it have to press again. :( My only other complaint is that some of the edges are very sharp. You can't easily break them as the metal is hardened. The tolerances I have are pretty good, sure - within a few thousandths of an inch. It came in very handy for some of my projects.
