Cast lock nut - breaks easily!

Overall, the fit and finish match the price. I doubt the vise is hardened, but it looks nice and is quite square for my basic machining techniques. The first time I used the vise, the locking mechanism broke - see photo. Rather than replacing with a cast scrap part, I decided to fabricate a new mild steel nut. Took a few hours but is much better in the long run. In my opinion the original nut design is bad for the following reasons: 1. It uses cast or very low grade steel (very weak)2. Designed

Odd sizes are good for hand tools

I'm pretty sure I know what their factory setting is. A guy who does a pretty good job on the first pass and a guy who came in drunk on the second pass. First, they are not custom made. So if you order a pair and then want to use them for a two point piece, you will at least have to do some grinding or adjusting a lot on the indicator. The pine bed is flat, of a consistent size and appears to be in good shape hence a B+ here. Microns to 0.7988 +/- 0.0002 in 8 points on two vices. The main level

Great vise for the price

Great vise for the price. I'm using this on a 6040 CNC router. It's about the same height you'd probably want on a CNC router of this size as the Z axis is quite limited. My 2" vise gives me more room. I don't know if I need a screwless vise, but they work pretty well. They're more compact than a set screw vise. Same item over and over since moving the sponges a longer distance can be a bit painful at times. However, I can move the jaws from small to large without removing the vise from my…
