I was trying to use some cheap "universal" valve spring compression tools on a '98 Honda Accord engine head. None of them fit well enough to be useful. This tool, on the other hand, was PERFECT. Compression made to the spring so you can easily insert the semi-circular "holders". It's designed to accommodate really different cylinder heads as well as different diameter valve springs. Don't waste your money on the $20 "universal" valve spring compression tools you'll see at your local auto parts store. Pay a little more to get this one. I'm very glad I got this
