Absolutely necessary for passenger transport!

Those stiffer springs make a big difference. I weigh 210 plus gearing on my '82 Suzuki gs450 and couldn't really carry a passenger with the stock springs. I can climb it with two people without any noticeable loss of height. the wheel stays the same. If you plan on carrying your gear, our road bike will definitely get those HD springs.
