This is a single pole, single position toggle switch. The toggle switch has a rubber coating to protect it from moisture. The plate is beautifully engraved. I attached it to the top of the plywood shelf with the two included black cap screws. To do this, a slotted hole had to be cut into the wood, more cumbersome than a round hole, but not overly complicated. I use it to remove power from a hidden power strip that powers audio equipment. Sometimes when a receiver, cable VCR, or DVD player's logic fails, you are prompted to turn it off and on again. This switch allowed me to do this without having to access the strip. It works well and looks reasonable.
