Prevents ankle twisting. My calves and ankles are very thin so it's difficult to tighten the ankle just enough to ensure talar stability. This brace is easier to lace up and I like that the part that goes around the sole of the foot doesn't hit the laces on the sole of the foot. Instead, it has an elastic mount, making it more comfortable than the old version.
