Review on ๐Ÿ“ท High-Quality Sigma 35mm F1.4 Art DG HSM Lens for Sony E โ€“ Expert Reviews & Buying Guide by Bali (hambali) แ Œ

Revainrating 3 out of 5

There are several shortcomings, but, it corresponds to the norm.

The weight. With the addition of a useless lengthening piece of plastic for the Sony mount, it became simply huge. Guys, it was still possible to put up with the fact that 35ka from Sigma under Canon is a little longer than the native one, but itโ€™s just tin. Well, this is 35 mm, not 1235. The question is, what the hell is such a log ? However, Sony, with all its fast short-focus lenses, has such a canoe. On the manufacturer's website, there is a song that with an adapter for Sony, all other people's lenses work worse than this particular, clearly sharpened series for Sony. Lies. There was an opportunity to shoot on a Sigma 35 for Canon with an MC-11 adapter (by the way, also from Sigma) and on this one. The difference, if any, is mental. Autofocus works confidently only in good light and fair sun. Backlight, twilight, and even more so dark rooms, turn autofocus into a source of irritation for the photographer about the lost frame. Focusing is disgusting. Compared to the Canon 5D Mk III's phase detection autofocus (from personal experience), this is not even a step back, but some kind of abyss in the last century. The autofocus backlight could have solved the focusing problem, but it only works from a standard Sony lamp on the carcass (I have A7mKIII). But the lamp is naturally obscured by the huge balloon of the lens body. And the autofocus assistance does not work either from Godox flashes or from the Godox commander (Hello Sony!).

Pros
  • Build quality. Aperture f/1.4. An alternative to lenses from Sony. Stability of characteristics from copy to copy in the Art series.
Cons
  • The weight. Dimensions. Autofocus in less than ideal conditions. The quality and speed of work in comparison with analogues of the Art series for other systems with an adapter (Sigma MC-11).
