My daughter was very happy about this camera for her 9th birthday. It's very reliable and overall I think it's a great first camera. The resolution of the photos is definitely not the best. Though it's not bad either. It took me a long time to figure out how it worked, but luckily it came with a good, detailed instruction manual. I love that it comes with a second battery, but you have to charge your camera, which is a little annoying.
