Review on πŸ”Œ BIGTREETECH TMC2209 TMC2208 Integrated Control Board by Sammie Rodriguez

The motherboard is excellent, but the TFT35 has problems

Buy a motherboard. yes i will wait This is a great upgrade from 8-bit just to have more Marlin features available. Touchscreen - phew. Well it will show the temperature as it rises while preheating for a while and then just stop and get stuck at any temperature. Stop until the bed and nozzle are fully heated, and then the final temperature reached will be displayed. This does not happen in Marlin mode. The touchscreen is a little odd when trying to adjust the elements. It may take some getting used to, but many elements just feel wrong to make it intuitive. Again, maybe I just need more time with it. I sometimes have trouble starting printing from the touchscreen as it just crashes on startup. He prints over the bed or starts printing and then decides he wants to print somewhere else for the rest. Now gcode works in marlin mode but not in touchscreen mode. I keep it in Marlin mode. I also can't get the "smart" filament sensor to work on either tft35 or the motherboard (see post in filament sensor), which I can't blame tft35 for. until I know if I have a bad sensor or not. Oh and no one in tech support seemed to understand that I needed the firmware for the motherboard, tft35, bltouch for z homing AND the filament sensor because they keep telling me to get the firmware on github which doesn't include the sensor . Yes, I have updated all firmware. If your screen is dead I would say go for it and just use Marlin mode as the motherboard is a good upgrade even to take advantage of the added Marlin features but if your screen is ok save your money.
