It's fine for quick gathering, but if you try to use the broom alone it will be too short. You can remove part of the shovel and make a big broomstick, but then the shovel will be too short. I have a feeling they skipped the boat with a different extension to make it a longer broom option. Also, the bristles keep flexing when you put them back in the shovel and lock them for storage. Very annoying when a few bristles are perpendicular to the broom when you pull them off. Over time, more and more bristles become permanently curved, which is annoying. Maybe I just have to cut them off. UPDATE: March 2019. Based on my review, I received an email and provided a more robust version of the product with enhancements. I am very happy. Leaning with a short grip was hard on my back when picking up large messes. The seller contacted me and delivered what I needed. I'm a big fan of customer service and they exceeded all expectations.
