I removed my optical drive from my MBP for a second HD in mid 2010 but I still wanted to use my optical drive when needed so I was looking for a case that would I could work I've been looking long and hard for a good but cheap optical drive. I finally got around to it and to my surprise it works great. The case may be "slightly" larger than the MBP's internal optical drive, but there is a workaround to get around this. -Static covers to stabilize the optical drive. It works for me as it helps stabilize the drive, provides anti-static protection on the drive, and also looks "cool" (there are two USB cables included, one to connect a DVD drive and another). the other to power the drive. I have found that one plug-in USB drive alone is sufficient to power the entire DVD drive. No need for a second USB "power".) All in all, it's a steal. a happy customer.
