Review on Hydration Backpack Water Bladder Lightweight by Michael Bazen

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great value, reliable quality

I've ridden this pack a few times so I have an opinion. I like it, it works well. I have an old Camelbak backpack which is a bit larger and suitable for day hikes to carry a jacket, lunch etc but for mountain biking I just want a 2L water bag, some tools and my phone etc. and wearing camelbak is too big and clunky. This solves this problem perfectly. I have removed the camelbak camera and tube from other packaging and am using it with this one so cannot comment on the quality of the camera that came with it - I am keeping it as a spare. if/when camelbak fails. This backpack is comfortable, I don't realize I'm wearing it. The shoulder straps are thin but wide and have no padding, which is not a problem given the low weight. It has two pockets - one for the full pocket height and closes with a zipper, the other for about 3/4 of the pocket height and closes with Velcro. There is also an elasticated bungee cord on the outside of the pack, presumably for carrying your MTB helmet or light jacket etc. One issue compared to the Camelbak is getting the camera in and out of the pack for loading and cleaning. it's a bit troublesome. This is bad design. Camelbak has a wide opening that opens and closes with a good zip, this bag has a narrow opening with a velcro closure at the top. The end of the hose is fed through a narrow slot in the shoulder strap (both sides) and the tank hanger to hold it upright (this is a strong nylon loop sewn into the camelbak backpack) is just two pieces of velcro that you stick on . together. It will not take long. I'm going to sew in a loop of nylon cord. However, given the price, these are minor issues that I can deal with. The bag looks good and feels tough enough to withstand the rigors of cross-country mountain biking.
