Review on πŸ”’ Efficiently Secure Plasterboard with Glarks Anchor Setting Assortment by Johnny Bloomer

M5 screw heads do not fit tool

The tool and anchor work great on my 1920's plasterboard walls. They are much stronger than plastic drywall anchors. However, M5 screw heads do not fit the mounting gun. It is not possible to put the screw heads in (or out of) the gun at any angle etc. The heads are 14mm wide and the inside of the gun is 10mm. The seller was responsive but not helpful. So the solution I found was to sand down the sides of the M5 sacrificial head as shown. By lowering the two parallel sides of the screw head to 10mm, the gun can be installed and this screw can be used to activate each of the anchors and then replaced with an unmodified screw. When attaching the anchor with a pistol, you may have to pull the large trigger several times depending on the wall thickness. It works like an inverted caulking gun, but be sure to stop when you feel the pressure of the wand itself. The gun is powerful enough to pull the anchor back through the wall when the plaster is thin.

Pros
  • β˜› Material: The pistol is made of solid metal with non-slip rubber grips and anti-slip device. Molly bolts are made of high quality zinc plated carbon steel, rust and corrosion resistant, strong enough for hanging items.
Cons
  • So far so good
