Definitely airtight!
You can hear how tight these containers are. noise you recognize. I am now obsessed with containers in my closets and pantry. How nice when everything is organized in the cupboards and shelves. It comes with a set of labels and a highlighter to really make your organization stand out. And I was able to take the labels off and wipe them with a damp cloth so they can be reused. I use them for muesli, oatmeal and cereals. Also for biscuits, spaghetti, noodles and pasta. The lids close really well. The 4 ball set was a nice bonus.
