I used to buy BN powder which is usually good but its quality varies depending on when you buy it so I decided to try something new. Although it's a bit more expensive, I liked the idea that Pounamu is from New Zealand, as I envisioned big, sun-drenched, sprawling plains with happy, healthy, free-range cows that eat grass and produce non-GMO milk. Maybe Pounamu has good taste. Slightly less sweet than BN and I was fine with that until today when I looked at the nutrition facts to find out that it has about DOUBLE the cholesterol of other whey protein powders. I am very surprised that the difference is so big. BN powder varies depending on when you buy it, but ranges from 35 to 45mg of cholesterol per 30gram scoop. Pounamu contains 80 mg of cholesterol per 30 gram serving. I wonder if the accuracy of the cholesterol measurement differs between brands. Next time I might opt for plant-based protein powders, which are cholesterol-free (although they usually don't taste that great). For those of us with a family history of heart disease, cholesterol is a problem, 80/27 35/12
