Easier to install than you think
In my case using ceiling screws there was not enough space to mount the smoke alarm. A simple solution was command strips (mostly double-sided tape). Voila! Glue to the ceiling and you're done. When I bought the second one, I didn't even bother with screws. "It took less than 30 seconds to process. I wish it was a little louder, but it serves my purpose perfectly. Small, inconspicuous, big. I will be buying more soon.
