You can tell right away that they are of high quality. The shape is smooth and the mouth of the jar is wide, so you can easily fill it or take something out with a spoon. I use it for canning herbs, so I often have to pour a very small amount from the jar. The color is dark and completely opaque, so I'm sure my herbs are in good condition. I also think they are cool and futuristic!
