We used it with a cordless drill. It was so durable and punched through our very tough dirt with such ease. I call it concrete slurry. Its thickness is ideal for loosening dirt to plant 2 gallon shrubs and flowers. We are so thankful for this drill as we age beyond our shoveling skills. The end of the shank is square so that it does not slip in the drill. The drill we have is long and feels so solid when pushed into the mud.
