Review on 🚜 DB Electrical Tractor Alternator Conversion Kit for Ford 8N with Side Mount Distributor - 1947-1952 Models by Rob Allen

When I received this I looked at the diagram to install the physical assembly parts. The scheme was useless. However, I have looked at the installation videos and photos and they do a much better job of showing how the actual installation should go. As with the previous review, I also had to use washers/shims to better align the belt between the fan assembly and alternator. Again, as in the previous test, I had to widen the slots to attach the brackets. I used a Harbor Freight hand sander to widen the bracket slots, but first used a sharpie to mark where the widening was needed. I made a few quick trips to the local hardware store to replace my old screws and find the best length for others. I also replaced the bolt holding the alternator to its bracket (this is the bolt that turns on the alternator to tension the belt). It was 3/8" (I think) but 7/16" was too thick, so I went with a metric screw that was a little over 3/8" and a little under 7/16". This wider bolt eliminated some of the mountain joint's "wobblyness" and allowed me to better align the belt from the alternator pulley to the fan pulley. My only problem now (before I connected the wires) is that the alternator arrived in a faulty state. small box in a big box. Also in the big box was a thin box of resist. When sipping, the resistance's little box was shattered and the resistance itself was broken. I'm still trying to get an answer as to whether I need a resistor if I switch to a 12v coil. All in all it was a fun project. . . The installation task was solved and I liked it. I have another 8n that I will be updating and you can bet I will be buying this product again!
