Handcrafted. Slides (not yet shot on film) fall from above, snap into place for viewing, and exit below when you press the shutter button - at least that's how it mostly happens. I had to shake it out a few times. The viewer is bright and the slides are clearly visible. I bought a viewer to display a bunch of old slides that I need to decide which ones to scan. For this purpose, this viewer is worth its money.
