I use this foam bag filter on my little Stinger which is a 2.5 gallon 1.75 HP wet/dry vac. Although I use these foam bag filters for wet separation, I also use the same filters for dry separation. They form a tight seal to keep dry dirt and debris out of the vacuum valve and last much longer than traditional fine and/or paper filters that come with either a retaining clip or rubber band. very snug and tight, and since the foam is only ½ inch thick I have to pull it up very, very carefully if I have to put a new one on. Otherwise my fingers tear through the foam sleeve. However, after about 4-6 days the foam sleeve loosens up a bit and when I take it off to shake, clean or vacuum the dirt it becomes easier to put it back on. Although I like it. I do this during the day, it's a very dirty job and my Stinger vacuum gets constant use every day. So I need a filter that has some strength and doesn't wear out as quickly as cloth filters. Also, unlike cloth filters, I can rinse these filters out when they're too dirty or heavily clogged with dust to reuse them. With washing up liquid and water it only takes a minute and as foam is a thin and light fabric it dries very quickly or in a few minutes in our tumble dryer and you are completely dry and working like new. I use a little care and gentle handling with the thin foam cloth and this is how these foam filters last 6 to 7 months before they start to puncture and tear. Also, replacing them twice a year is a lot cheaper than replacing them out of paper or cloth at least once a week.
