If you are buying a new remote control because your range has decreased, first check the batteries in the remote control. If they are ok, look for LEDs nearby. I installed LED lights in my garage and my garage door remotes weren't working. When I replaced the LEDs with CFLs or incandescent bulbs, my remote controls worked fine, although the range was still limited. I called garage door opener customer service and was told that the LEDs were interfering with the RF signal from the remote to the main unit. Their solution was a new LED compatible head unit, which was very expensive. They also said that if you have LEDs somewhere nearby (even off) they will interfere with opening your garage door. WOW!
