It's ok but when you try to align the vise boards with the bench it's tricky.3. There is no list of gear to buy. let me do you a favor Buy a 1" forstner bit. This will make the holes big enough for the guide rods and threaded rod. Buy 8 #14 pan head screws. The length is up to you, your bench will be different from mine as will your vise. All in "All in all this is a worthwhile purchase. It's good enough for what I need it for. I'm adding my guitar workbench to expand it for woodworking and furniture making. There are probably better ones out there but if you're new to woodworking are, that's fine. I would buy again
