DO NOT BUY! I bought this item to match my Royal Berkey which I love. He put the thing on, pulled it tight, filled Berkey with water, put it on the shelf. As Berkey filtered the water, it indicated that the water level was rising, but that was inaccurate. In addition, there is a hole in the top of the metal gauge that allows exposure to the air around the device and potential contaminants from your fine, clean Berkey-filtered water. The sensor also indicated that the item was half full after about 15 minutes. But as you drank this queue crashed and you could see it really wasn't as full as advertised. I'm not sure if it works right after filling because I've never had the chance to find out. Here's the real reason why you don't spend your money on this product: The nozzle mouth started leaking at night. Drop by drop exactly where the water should come out when you push the lever down. We live in an 1880 farmhouse. Water all over the hardwood floor and in my basement (remember a full Royal Berkey holds over 3 gallons). This is a catastrophic FAIL! If you live in a shed or somewhere you don't care if water damages the floor and you don't want your Berkey to hold water, try this. Even if one in a hundred fails, that's too many. I can't even return the item and get my money back because my insurance company asked me to keep it because they may need proof to track them.
