Definitely cooling, but very thin.
I would've given these 5 stars because I can definitely say they have a cooling effect on each of my pillows: foam, down, polyester fill, whatever. The only problem is they are so thin, that if your pillowcases are also thin, you can feel any wrinkles, bulges, or seems in the pillows themselves. So I do recommend these for their actual cooling ability, but I also recommend investing in thicker, moisture-wicking pillowcases or an equivalent cooling-type fabric.
