Upgrade from a smaller model that was loud and hot enough to cook on. This one was the same. I FIXED A LITTLE BIT. I used Teflon spade spray. Spray into the air intake. The noise immediately dropped to a low level. The noise is almost gone. No harmful effects on fish or oil on water are observed. Unfortunately, 13 months have passed since purchase, so there is no guarantee. I'll try to take it apart and see if I can fix anything. 16 sponge filters on the smaller one. The vapor is slow, but the performance of the smaller pump is better after Teflon. I got very angry, the big one broke but it was 200 watts.
