There are so many options for replacement water filters and the OEM versions are too expensive. I have a new Sears Kenmore Elite that replaced a two year old Samsung fridge. Samsung's only positive feature was the water dispenser, but that's another review. I have used this brand in Samsung for two years with good results and decided to try it in Kenmore Elite. No leaks yet, great taste and improved flow. The LG OEM filter that came with the Kenmore Elite fridge had poor flow and degraded flavor after two months of use and was likely rated at nearly 200 gallons. If this filter gives the same or better volume before replacement, the service life is good. New York has good water, but the faucet smells of chlorine and has a slight chlorine taste. These filters and LG filters do their job well, delivering better tasting and odor free water. Some reviewers have mentioned leaks from these replacement filters. I always apply a small amount of silicone grease (suitable for plumbing and food grade seals) to the o-rings before installing filters. It worked on Samsung and still on this filter for Kenmore Elite. Side by side LG OEM filters have slightly stronger o-rings than these WLF-01 replacement filters. I kept the original LG filter o-rings in case the filter leaks.
