Review on ๐Ÿš— Enhanced Air Suspension Kit - Air Lift 1000 (60810) by Nick Beck

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent suspension support for a vehicle with poor suspension.

Changed from a 2011 Nissan Frontier to a 2012 Pathfinder. I knew that if I switched from truck to SUV, I would lose some payload support. But these vehicles are very similar, but the Pathfinder doesn't handle the added weight of boat towing very well. After reading some forums it turned out that the Pathfinder has a known problem with crouching and can't properly support the car's rear weight, and for towing it's ridiculous. The forums suggested upgrading to Biltstein shocks, Moog coil springs and a 1000 air bridge. I started with shocks, which helped, but not much. Then I decided to make Moog springs and air lifters at the same time. The air lifter instructions say you can deflate them and insert them between spring coils. This can be the case with standard coils, which are thinner, have fewer coils, and more spacing between coils. But with aftermarket coils, there's a lot less room and I couldn't cram them in. Not a big deal as I had to disassemble the suspension to put the Mugi on. If you plan to upgrade the springs, do so with the coils, otherwise you may find that you have to remove the coils to add air lifters later. annoying effect. After adding these air bridges and inflating to 30psi, this was eliminated. The rear end sits a little higher and absorbs shocks. Now when I hook up my 22ft boat, the rear suspension only drops 1 inch, making it easier for me to hook up the weight distribution legs/anti-roll bars. Now that the vehicle and boat run smoother and even acceleration and braking have been improved. The rear end no longer bounces up and down and no longer sticks out after a big hit. Anyone towing a large vehicle with an SUV should add this to their SUV. Trucks handle the tow weight a lot better, but light SUVs look really bad. when working with extra weight. I ended up adding a trailer hitch for weight distribution, heavy duty dampers and springs. Although I did the springs and air lifts at the same time, the coils helped when the air lifts didn't apply pressure, but not much. If I ever need to go back and upgrade another car's suspension, I'll start with air jacks first. I think they would fix the problems without changing any other parts as I've seen the biggest improvement since adding air jacks.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • I don't really like it, everything is fine
