Review on Monoprice Select Mount Bracket Stand by Andrea Sweet

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent, mostly with small problems.

I received this to mount an additional 58 inch TV and didn't want to wall mount it or buy one of those "stands" that just raise the TV up a bit. Got it for a great price and overall very satisfied. But I'm deducting a star for a couple of minor things: First and most importantly, the assembly instructions are so poor it took me about 3 hours to put together. If you buy this, make sure you DO NOT tighten the screws until it's done, as you'll likely be taking it apart and reassembling it several times (btw, the "wrench" that came with it for assembly is utterly useless. I gave up and used my own pliers). I don't understand why a reviewer found the instructions clear. Unless he was Stephen Hawking reincarnated. Second, as one reviewer noted, some details are flimsy; The shelves aren't great, and the piece holding the top shelf (above the TV) bent during assembly. In any case (and this is secondary to me) the "grommets" that the cables go through are no good - it's hard to hit, and even if you succeed, they won't let you lower the stand. I just disabled it after trying for 30 minutes to get it working. Now I don't want to put anyone off - it's a very good stand and holds the weight of my TV very well. I'm generally quite satisfied, but be aware that there are small issues. If you take my advice and make sure you read the instructions CAREFULLY (as is) and make sure you don't fully tighten the screws until you've assembled everything correctly, you'll have a great stand.
