Purchased this pump as an alternative to the major brand "kit” for hot water recirculation, allowing me to save a few bucks and customize the design as I needed to. Bottom line is that it does a great job at what it is designed for, although the air release screw is a bit sensitive, which caused some extra work. More detail below on the installation.I have a typical hot water heater for a 2 story home where the kitchen faucets are on one side of the house and the upstairs faucets are on the other. The builder didn’t install a recirculation line, so I decided to use the combination of the recirculation pump with the temperature sensor valves that use the cold water pipes as the return line.The Pump. First thing to note is that both the input and output sides of this pump are male. If you have a typical hot water heater, there will be a male connection that comes out of the top to feed the hot water pipes. I needed to go to the hardware store to get a ¾” female/female coupler to join the nib from the hot water heater to the "in” side of this pump. See photo.
