Review on Seating SpaceGrid Synchro Adjustable Managers Furniture by Lucy Baker

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Good in theory, but bad in practice with serious quality control issues.

I bought this chair because the leatherette base on my previous chair was peeling badly. I wanted to avoid that this time by buying a mesh seat (which they call "Air Mesh" on this list). I have had the chair for 9 months now and would not recommend it to anyone. First the pros: * Neat retractable armrests. I wanted this feature to make it easier for me to play guitar or keyboards when connected to my computer's recording interface. They fit quite well for this purpose, although I don't use them as often as I thought.* The back is nice and breathable. I wasn't too hot in the chair last summer.* Easy to assemble. This is a typical office chair that comes in a box with several parts: seat, backrest, base, castors and tilt mechanism. If you've ever assembled an office chair, it shouldn't take you more than 15 minutes to put it together. Now for the cons: * This "air mesh" seat has to be the most uncomfortable office chair seat I've ever sat on. on. I know it's unfair to compare this to the Aeron, but at least the Aeron's mesh seat wasn't bad. I feel tension in my legs after sitting in this Office Star chair for a while. The seat is also narrower than my previous chair (also by Office Star) and its curve uncomfortably touches the outer edges of my legs.* The armrest pads began to crack almost immediately. I've owned two Office Star chairs in the past and both had issues with their armrest cushions so I wasn't expecting much from here. But the back edge of both armrest cushions broke within a few months of using the chair. I will see if I can replace them as the chair still has 1 year warranty on these parts. But the fact that I have to do that just goes to show how awful these pillows are.* Speaking of the armrests, while their retractable nature is a nice feature, there's no way to lock them in place. I nearly injured my arms several times just by pushing myself up on the armrests to correct my position and they suddenly reclined. Bad.* The tilting mechanism seems to be completely broken. There is only one lever to lock the tilt and it stopped working a few weeks ago. The chair is now effectively in perpetual reclining mode and there doesn't seem to be a way to fix this. There are several decent quality chairs in the Office Star line. However, this is not one of them. avoid it
