The screw is too short for most full-size speaker cables. .With a large barrel of wire, a short and small diameter screw, the strands of wire will be pushed into the rest of the cavity and there won't be a really good connection. It seems best to double the strands and solder to ground so there is enough screw to bite in and the strands don't push out and separate from the bundle. But I don't use them for speakers, but for small charging cables from an RC peak charger. At the end of the wire I added a barrel ferrule crimp. Remove the screw and the plastic socket cover. I soldered the wire to the ba. Place the grommet on the wall in the socket shaft where the wire should go, opposite the screw hole. Then replace the cover, insert the screw and tighten. Should work fine. I don't just trust the screw. The wall of the jack is thin, the thread into which the screw is screwed is small. I think after a few uses we will know how much "spring force" of the cell in which the connection takes place the socket retains its "spring force" to continue to cause the right tension for a good connection. Out of the box they form a very tight fit. Yes, the ones that don't have a screw are much preferred and you need to solder. Clamp these works, even more so if you want an extra set of holes in the bushing by the yard.
