Cables don't stay connected

It's just awful. If the screw was placed higher or a hole drilled it would be fine, but it only provides 2mm of grip on the wire. I have no idea why people are reviewing these above and saying "well all you have to do is drill them out / solder them to the wire / good for the money. They don't work well at all. Dear positive reviewers: Have you tried other banana plugs, I've never used ones that fall off so easily or take so much effort to get them to use.

Not the best, but cheap

I have different wire sizes for different speakers. The screw comes out before it touches the small wire and cannot hold it. I have the same problem with a medium sized cable. my biggest monster cable doesn't fit at all. The hole doesn't go all the way through, which would help make contact with the wire. However, it is possible to find a way to work, but look for the best type so you can thread the wire through and then unscrew the banana head to secure the wire. Cheap. and may work for some…

Picky, but they work.

This is definitely not the highest quality. The screw has a dual function - it holds the conductor in the connector and the cover on the connector. Depending on the size of the conductor, this can lead to a mess. I was planning on soldering the wires to the connectors, which works, but you have to be careful not to use too much solder or you won't be able to unscrew the cap. The end cap diameter is not well controlled. I had to compress a few of them to get them right. They're the cheapest so I

Junk, breaks easily, won't solder

Very, very cheap connectors. If you want to solder them you can't use colored grommets as they are held in place by a screw that goes in the hole where the wire goes. If you want to use sleeves you have to hold the wire in place with a screw which does a terrible job of holding the wire in between as I soldered a couple of these two wires and just covered them in shrink wrap and one of the banana plugs broke. Removed from the wire attachment, they fit snugly and break very easily. I do not…

The hole for the wire is too small and not through

A pain in the ass. The wire hole is too shallow to use and you will never get a solid connection and you have to manually drill each hole to put the wire through. The wire enters only 0.10 inch and separates at the slightest pull. At the slightest tension, the wire comes out. The "gold" plating suggested it was cheap Chinese junk that didn't work. Anything with a "gold" paint finish is garbage. I will never buy gold again. gold = trash. Instead, you need silver plating. Don't buy them unless…

Advice before installation, for those who need a great plug

OK These plugs are not ideal, I agree. But I bought them knowing this and was willing to do a little work to bring them closer to perfection. At least for my use (with electronics as a hobby). Drill them with a #24 (0.152 in.) drill bit or equivalent. After that, they slide easily into each other while maintaining the perfect tension. Then, before you install the wire, put some solder on the end of the wire. Find it stays intact in the fork but also has enough "give" so that it wedges in during

You get what you pay for

These plugs will probably fit most applications where just screw terminals are sufficient to clamp the speaker wire into the plug. I bought these for use with outdoor speakers, so instead of using a screw to clamp the speaker wires, which could cause moisture to oxidize the speaker wire, I soldered the wires to the connector to encapsulate the wire in solder to prevent moisture from entering. to get to it. It was at this point that I discovered that the inner shell of these connectors was not a

Well you get what you pay for, they're not bad but far from great.

Would give 2.5 stars if I could. and the same in shipping for the quality of an item I would use in my lab for work. For my hobby of playing around I decided to give them a try. As others have reported. The screw is too short for most full-size speaker cables. .With a large barrel of wire, a short and small diameter screw, the strands of wire will be pushed into the rest of the cavity and there won't be a really good connection. It seems best to double the strands and solder to ground so there…
