Works great! I just kept it open for days, sliding my cat in and out. Then I closed it. When she wanted out, I pushed her out through the closed valve. Then I used the magnet on the collar to push her back so she could see how it worked. Now no problem. However, with one caveat, I had to disassemble the block and fix the spring tension with a magnet in the door latch mechanism because the tension was too great. Also, there is some sort of removable frame around the door itself - on the inside flap - which I removed as it was preventing my cat from getting in. Does not affect usage. Maybe it's the cold. I live in Hawaii so no problem
