I purchased this item to solve a problem with a 6 gauge stranded wire I used to install an RV surge protector in my 50 amp circuit. Every time I tried to just screw the connector onto the stranded wire, they didn't hold up well. It helped, but only with one modification. I used a crimping tool on the CAT5 wire and cut it into a square which I had to fully shape with a vice but now they hold very securely. I have also used it for other connections. At first I thought they were flimsy and cheap, but it actually felt good when I tried to shape them. Depending on your application, this may or may not work for you. But they worked for me to solve my problem
