After about 30 years of use, the light box in one of the bedrooms broke and the ceiling fan was dangling from a wire. I needed a sturdy box that I could install without cutting a large hole in the ceiling. This box worked beautifully.1. The box is solid and I think it will hold the nominal 50lbs.2. It fit in the space left by the old box so I didn't have to widen the existing hole in the ceiling.3. I drove 3 screws into the beam with my cordless screwdriver. Fast and easy. Once in place, it became stable and reliable. I installed a new mount to complete this project. If I need to replace other boxes in the house I will buy these again.
