I live in a 160 sqm apartment. ft. I recently bought this machine because I knew I needed it. Last night I lit a three-wick candle, which I blew out just before bed, as I often do. I climbed into the attic and as soon as I started to fall asleep this device turned itself off. I knew it was the candle since I didn't have the heater on, so I unplugged it and opened the skylight. When I was free I closed the window and went back to sleep and slept peacefully for the rest of the night. The device might be a bit sensitive, but that doesn't bother me. I am very happy that I made the purchase!
