I have tried 3 chalk boxes in 2 years. They don't last long enough. I found a problem with them. They have a small metal grommet that guides the string in and out. Well, after use, the cord begins to rub against the ear, and the cord begins to fray and get stuck in the box. So you have to take it apart and pull out the thread so it doesn't fray, cut it, retie the hook and everything else, a very messy process. And then it goes on, because the more the loop wears out, the quicker the chalk line wears out. So after about 8-12 months of use, plan to fix it every week or two. Don't waste time fixing them. Buy another chalk line. 1 beginning in my book.
