I didn't want to risk flooding (there wasn't much left to hold the hot water cartridge in place) so I just replaced the whole thing. My old trim set and ultimately the new trim set I bought to renovate my bathtub fit in snugly. The flex tube design was appreciated so I didn't have to use a precision tube bender, and the copper in this guy was good clean material.
