Review on 🍷 Le Creuset Compact Wine Opener by James Dominick

Revainrating 1 out of 5

absolute crap in terms of durability and ridiculously high price

This is by far the best wine opener design. I've owned many of these things for decades. They used to be more durable, but for more than a decade the plastic has been of poor quality. I used to tell people to twist the cork until I hit the bottom; Then light it up and walk slowly so it doesn't break. It's no longer possible. The manufacturer is sitting on a gold mine and doesn't care about the quality of the product. The design is complete crap. I don't care about their guarantees; Damn things shouldn't break so easily. And costs! Four times more than a normal corkscrew. Admit it folks: the manufacturer laughs up our sleeves. I have at least five bodies of these explorers to prove it. Le Creuset, Screwpull, all the same. Thank goodness planes aren't built that way.

Pros
  • Folds for storage or carrying in pocket
Cons
  • Out of fashion
