Doesn't work as advertised.

I have a 2007 Black and Decker CDC 1440 Type 1 cordless drill and three batteries. I bought it at a flea market and it came with three batteries and a charger. The old charger failed so I recently bought this charger. As described, it is very small. It has a green light and is easy to use. However, there are two problems with this charger: it only seems to work with 2007 or newer batteries, and when you charge a slightly dead battery, the green light goes out after 6.5 hours. My three batteries look the same and the charger fits all three. I tried reloading all three but only one of them turned green. I looked again at the other two batteries. I cleaned the contacts. I shook the charger as I put it on and the light flickered slightly. I cautiously tried to keep the green light on for several days. I failed every time. I connected the charger to both batteries for 6.5 hours with no lights on (I figured the lights might not work intermittently) but they didn't charge. Button. The charger worked on a 2007 model 28-BM 412. Fault on 2006 model 21BM 110 and 2005 model 29BM 140. It's frustrating that the description doesn't say "works only with 2007 and newer batteries". The date of manufacture is located next to the red lock/unlock button. Also, the green light may not illuminate if the battery is too old to be recharged. If so, this should also be stated. My second issue is that I used the drill for two minutes on a charged battery. I like to charge batteries before putting them away. So I put the charger. The green light came on but only went off after 6.5 hours. It seems strange that it would take so long. Therefore, before purchasing, check the battery's manufacturing date.
