Review on πŸ’» Conveniently Charge and Transfer Data with USBGear 4-Port USB 3.0 Mountable Hub by Joshua Wheeler

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for USB hubs

I was hesitant to buy this for my needs. This is great if you're using a combination of USB devices, but I had to connect 3-4 external USB powered WD or Seagate hard drives. I was concerned that the 5V 2A power supply would not be enough to power all of these devices at the same time. These are 2TB to 5TB external portable drives. I couldn't find the power requirements for them, but once the hub's drivers were installed I was able to connect one drive at a time until 4 were connected, and even copy between them at speeds close to USB3. I'm only planning to use this for a maximum of 2 or 3 connected devices, so there shouldn't be a problem. I have another 7 port USB3 hub with 3 charging ports and a 12V power adapter with more amperage. If I was running 4 drives continuously this way I would use it, but for these needs it's a great hub and I liked that I could mount it in my rack. It should be noted that it took several minutes for Windows 10 and Windows. Server 2008 to download and install drivers. Plug in the hub and check the system tray for information that it's ready to use before plugging anything into it. I changed the USB ports on my computer and it had to be reinstalled again, so stay consistent.
