I build a lot of different things for customer projects and don't usually paint. But from time to time I add paint or stain to make some extra money. I bought the 1700 because I thought it would be a good investment at a time like this. However, after using the 1700 for the first time, I was disappointed. To top it off, I found that due to the patented hardware on the machine and gun, you can't add any accessories. Cons: - Blocks immediately on first use with 515 tip and acrylic latex paint. It clogged two more times during the spray session. I had to thin the latex paint to keep it from clogging. You do not need to dilute latex paint for airless spraying. - No accessories for the weapon. You cannot buy upgrades, braided hoses, longer hoses, guns, nozzle extensions, etc. I think the only thing you can buy is extra nozzles, but you can't use them on other airless sprayers. did not clog, there was a very good spray pattern - cleaning was relatively easy with the latex. I'll probably spend the extra money and buy a true professional airless sprayer. I'll keep the 1700 to myself and use it for small jobs like painting doors and cabinets.
