Review on Hopkins Agility Simple Brake Control Plug-in (Model: 47294) by Tyshawn Adams

I originally bought this to replace an old Hopkins Brake Force that had failed. Installation was a breeze as the dash mount holes were the same and the plug in simple connector was the same as I already had. Yay. After calibrating the device, it stopped the trailer much more smoothly than the old module. BUT. Regardless of the power or sensitivity setting, the device sends 10% power to the trailer as soon as I press the brake pedal. This was independent of speed as it could happen at a full stop, forward or even backward. Depending on the number of horses in my trailer (ranging from empty to 3 horses) it can momentarily lock up the trailer brakes, make the trailer and tractor jerk and cause the horses to stumble when trying to balance. I also adjusted my trailer's drum brakes to spec. I contacted the manufacturer via email. The next morning they responded with the diagnosis "Blockade defective". I ordered a replacement through Revain. I installed the 2nd unit and took my empty trailer with me. There was the same problem. There was that annoying 10% initial signal to the follower. I then called Revain customer service and they instructed me to return both units for a full refund with shipping prepaid. I ended up ordering and installing a Tekonsha Primus IQ. DAY AND NIGHT. There is no trailer train. When I step on the brakes, it's like there's no trailer behind me. It also has more features than Agility and a nice little DVD on how to install and calibrate the unit. Bottom line, save yourself the headache of an edge device; Spend the extra $15 on Tekonsha.
