Review on IOGEAR 4-Port DVI KVMP Switch with Full Cable Set: Ultimate TAA Compliant Solution by Byron Lucas

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Almost perfect for computers and accessories

Pros: Easy to set up 4-port single channel DVI keyboard / USB + mouse (like - see bathroom) / 3.5mm speakers (1/8") + Microphone switch box with two additional USB ports (one on the back and one on the front) and headphone and microphone ports on the front. No video quality issues even at 1920 x 1200 resolution or input lag. If the switch was out of sight you'd never know what it was there Good value given the cost of alternative hardware solutions Bad: As others have noted, USB mouse support is uneven My wireless mouse worked fine, moving from the left to the right, but trying to move it up or down moved it. The cursor moves up very slowly. As others have pointed out, moving the mouse to one of the extra USB ports makes it fully functional, but you disabled one USB port. In my case I didn't need them, so this isn't the case. This is a big problem, but I'm still giving it a star because apparently IOGear can *fix* the mouse port issue since all mice work on other USB ports. (I'd only dock half a star, not an option.) I haven't tried plugging a non-mouse into the mouse port just to see if that would work, but considering it doesn't even properly support a mouse , I tend to doubt it. Conclusion: Aside from the obvious issue with mouse support, which seems a lot *less* forgivable given the simple workaround, the switch block works like a dream, just as well as a 20 year old PS/2. The Belkin KVM, which I still use daily on my retro gaming rigs, is way better than other switches that have come out over the years, even Belkin's. It also includes features that I don't need but others may need, such as: B. Keyboard control instead of physical access to the switch block and the ability to switch only part of the KVM while leaving the rest unchanged.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Blank
