At first I was very hesitant about buying a more expensive motion sensor or a standard sensor. I also did a lot of research online and also spoke to our plumber who works in large buildings across New York. While he didn't have much of an opinion on movement and stillness, he included Moen in his short list of 3 brands worth buying. - Arc valve from spatter. Well pfft I ignored it and decided to spend the extra money on a motion sensor. The choice was between this and the other major manufacturer you've probably seen here. I have read complaints about another and a family friend had nothing but complaints about it. I also liked that it has features that others don't have, like front/top sensors where you don't actually have to touch the device, which defeats the whole purpose for me when I have dirty hands/hands. Fast forward now that I've had it for a few months and gosh we are so happy with this purchase! The high arch is great because we can now easily put pans underneath for topping up and have no splashing issues as the guide warned in our deep sink. The motion sensor is flawless in dark or light conditions, no more dirty hands touching the faucet and then cleaning the faucet (ironically clean what cleans you, but who wants raw chicken on it?). And it's great for kids who forget to turn off the water or accidentally turn it on. Leave her at the right temperature and don't mess with her. TIP: Buy a plug-in adapter. The battery is insufficient for the normal operation of the sensor. I thought the faucet had a problem but read elsewhere that the batteries aren't powerful enough. We bought an adapter and it works like clockwork. UPDATE 11/05/16: Everything was fine for the first few months. Then the water flow decreases sharply. Note that we live in a 1924 built 100 unit building in Brooklyn. Troubleshooting revealed that this was due to the small screens in the hot water and water lines becoming clogged with dark debris (see image). Now it seems to happen once every few days or a week, which means you have to crawl under the sink, strain your back, disassemble every line and clean the filters. I reached out to Moen to see if there is a workaround. When I remove the filters, I suspect it just sends dirt "upstream" that clogs the faucet head or gets into the water we consume. The problem isn't with Moen, probably with the old plumbing lines, but I wish I had known about a "more line-friendly" faucet before buying a faucet with these microfilters.
